1. Make sure that you have access to the email address listed as the admin contact for the right domain name. Our transfer process is email verification-based, so if your email address listed for the administrative contact of the web site is not current, the transfer will fail. It is inadvisable to try email forwarding for this process.

2. Make sure your domain name is not expired. It is advisable to initiate your transfer at least seven days prior to the expiration date, so there will be enough time to complete the process, especially for premium domains.

3. Remove privacy protection from the WHOIS information (only applicable to non .ca different TLDs ), as this tends to divert the verification email to a non-responding admin address. This also goes for generic top-level domains (gTLDs) and Country Code top-level domains (ccTLD).

4. Make sure your domain name is not locked at the current registry, as many domain name system (DNS) registrars will automatically place a lock on the domain for security.

5. All .ca .com .info, .us ,.biz and .org transfers require an authentication code when transferring your best domain name to us. You can obtain an EPP authorization code from your current registrar (where the qualified domain name is currently registered). The EPP code is, essentially, a unique password for your domain name that may be made up of characters, hyphens, symbols, or other special characters.

6. We cannot transfer new domain names that are less than 60 days old. If you registered your new website within the last 60 days, please wait until after 60 days before starting a transfer to us. We'll still be able to web host your domain then.

7. Name servers transfers add one year onto your expiration date, so you don't lose any time you have paid for.
