SSL and HTTPS troubleshooting

Guide from cPanel & websites — written for Canadian customers. Billing always in CAD.

cPanel & websites

Use this guide when the padlock is missing, browsers warn, or HTTPS won’t force.

To enable HTTPS, order an SSL certificate for your domain: SSL Certificates. After it’s active, install it for the site in cPanel.

Before you open a ticket

  1. Confirm the domain’s DNS points to us (ns1–ns4.4goodhosting.com) — nameserver guide.
  2. Confirm an SSL certificate is ordered and active for the exact hostname visitors use (including www if you use it).
  3. In cPanel, open SSL/TLS / SSL/TLS Status and confirm a certificate is installed for that domain.
  4. Enable Force HTTPS Redirect — force HTTPS article.
  5. Clear browser cache or try a private window. Mixed content (HTTP images on an HTTPS page) can still show warnings — fix asset URLs in WordPress or your app.

Common symptoms

  • No padlock / browser warning — certificate not installed yet, or DNS still points elsewhere.
  • Certificate name mismatch — cert covers example.com but not www.example.com (or the reverse).
  • HTTP works, HTTPS doesn’t — certificate not installed or not covering this hostname.
  • Only one page insecure — mixed content in a theme or plugin.

Still stuck?

Open a ticket with the domain name and a screenshot of cPanel SSL/TLS Status. For certificate options, see SSL Certificates.
