How do I install WordPress? Print

You can install WordPress on your hosting in a couple of minutes using the tools built into cPanel. We recommend WordPress Toolkit, which also helps you manage updates, backups, and security afterwards.

Method 1 (recommended): WordPress Toolkit

  1. Log in to cPanel (see How do I log in to cPanel?).
  2. Open WordPress Toolkit and click Install.
  3. Choose the domain (and folder, if any) where the site should live, and confirm https:// as the protocol.
  4. Set your site title, and an admin username, password, and email. Avoid using "admin" as the username.
  5. Click Install. When it finishes, your site is live and you can log in at https://yourdomain.com/wp-admin.

From WordPress Toolkit you can later run updates, create staging copies, take backups, and apply one-click security hardening.

Method 2: Softaculous

  1. In cPanel, open Softaculous Apps Installer and select WordPress.
  2. Click Install Now, choose your domain and protocol (https://), set the site name and admin details, and click Install.

Tip: if your site does not yet show a padlock over https://, make sure an SSL certificate is installed and turn on Force HTTPS (see Force HTTPS on your website). Keep WordPress, themes, and plugins updated to stay secure (see How do I secure my WordPress website?).
