Changing your Gmail theme is a quick way to personalize your inbox appearance. Here’s how to do it in just a few steps:

 How to Change Your Gmail Theme (Desktop/Web Version)

  1. Open Gmail

  2. Click the Gear Icon

    • In the top-right corner, click the âš™ï¸ Settings icon.

  3. Select "See All Settings" → OR → Click “Themesâ€

    • In the drop-down panel, click “View all†or “Themes†if it appears directly.

    • You’ll see a grid of theme options (default, light, dark, nature photos, custom uploads, etc.)

  4. Choose a Theme

    • Click on any image or theme to preview it.

    • Some themes allow customization:

      • Text background: Light or dark.

      • Vignette: Adds shading to corners.

      • Blur: Softens background image.

  5. Click “Save†to apply the theme.

 

 Use Your Own Photo as a Gmail Theme

  1. While choosing a theme, click “My Photosâ€.

  2. Select a photo from your Google Photos, or upload a new one.

  3. Adjust settings (blur, vignette, text color) as needed.

  4. Click Save.

 

 On Mobile (Android/iOS Gmail App)

  • Gmail apps do not support custom themes.

  • However, you can toggle between:

    • Light mode

    • Dark mode

To do this:

  • Go to Gmail app → Menu (☰) → Settings → General settings → Theme
