How do I set up SPF, DKIM, and DMARC for my email?

Guide from Email — written for Canadian customers. Billing always in CAD.

Email

SPF, DKIM, and DMARC tell other providers your messages really come from your domain. Without them, mail is more likely to land in spam.

cPanel can create most of this for you.

Check and repair with Email Deliverability

  1. Log in to cPanel.
  2. Open Email → Email Deliverability.
  3. Find your domain. If SPF or DKIM shows a problem, click Manage.
  4. Click Repair (or install the suggested record).

This applies automatically when the domain uses our nameservers. If DNS is hosted elsewhere, copy the values cPanel shows and add them at your DNS provider.

What each record does

  • SPF lists servers allowed to send mail for your domain.
  • DKIM signs messages so receivers can detect tampering.
  • DMARC tells receivers what to do when SPF/DKIM fail.

Safe starter DMARC

Add a TXT record at _dmarc.yourdomain.com:

v=DMARC1; p=none; rua=mailto:you@yourdomain.com

This monitors without rejecting mail. Tighten the policy later once reports look clean. Add it under DNS Management, or ask support to help.

Tip

After changes, send a test message to Gmail or Outlook and confirm it is not quarantined.
