Creating email filters in Gmail helps you automatically manage incoming messages—such as labeling, archiving, deleting, forwarding, or starring them—based on specific rules you define.

🔹 Method 1: From the Search Bar

  1. Open Gmail: https://mail.google.com

  2. In the search bar at the top, click the sliders icon (ðŸ”) on the right side.

  3. In the dropdown, fill in filter criteria:

    • From: Specific sender email

    • To: Your address (helpful if managing multiple)

    • Subject, Has the words, Doesn’t have

    • Size, Date range, or attachments

  4. Click "Create filter" at the bottom right of the panel.

🔹 Method 2: From an Email

  1. Open an email from the sender you want to filter.

  2. Click the three-dot menu (â‹®) in the top-right corner.

  3. Select “Filter messages like thisâ€.

  4. Gmail will auto-fill the sender’s info. Adjust other criteria as needed.

  5. Click "Create filter".

Step 2: Choose What the Filter Does

After defining the criteria, you’ll be shown a list of actions to apply:

  • ✅ Skip the Inbox (Archive it)

  • 🌟 Mark as read

  • 📠Apply the label (or create a new label)

  • 📨 Forward it to another email address

  • ðŸ—‘ï¸ Delete it

  • â— Never send it to Spam
