Creating email filters in Gmail helps you automatically manage incoming messages—such as labeling, archiving, deleting, forwarding, or starring them—based on specific rules you define.

 How to Create Email Filters in Gmail (Desktop)
🔹 Method 1: From the Search Bar

Open Gmail: https://mail.google.com

In the search bar at the top, click the sliders icon (ðŸ”) on the right side.

In the dropdown, fill in filter criteria:

From: Specific sender email
-
To: Your address (helpful if managing multiple)

Subject, Has the words, Doesn’t have
-
Size, Date range, or attachments
-

Click "Create filter" at the bottom right of the panel.
🔹 Method 2: From an Email

Open an email from the sender you want to filter.

Click the three-dot menu (â‹®) in the top-right corner.

Select “Filter messages like thisâ€.

Gmail will auto-fill the sender’s info. Adjust other criteria as needed.

Click "Create filter".

 Step 2: Choose What the Filter Does
After defining the criteria, you’ll be shown a list of actions to apply:

✅ Skip the Inbox (Archive it)

📠Apply the label (or create a new label)

📨 Forward it to another email address

✅ You can apply the filter to matching conversations already in your inbox by checking the box at the bottom.

📱 Note: Filters on Gmail Mobile App

Gmail mobile app does not support creating or editing filters.

You can use desktop or browser mode on mobile to create filters.

Once filters are created, they work across all devices automatically.

🧹 Managing and Editing Filters

Go to Settings (gear icon) → See all settings

Click the Filters and Blocked Addresses tab

You'll see a list of all filters:

Edit or Delete filters

Reapply them to old emails if needed
