The following article explains how to configure an email to an Iphone.

 

How to Configure Email on iPhone 

 Automatic Setup (Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook, etc.)

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone.

  2. Scroll down and tap Mail.

  3. Tap Accounts → Add Account.

  4. Choose your email provider:

    • Gmail

    • Outlook

    • Yahoo

    • AOL

    • iCloud

    • Or tap Other if not listed.

  5. Enter your email address and password.

  6. Follow the prompts to sign in.

  7. Choose what you want to sync (Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Notes).

  8. Tap Save.

 

 Manual Setup (Custom Domain / Web Hosting Email)

If you have a domain email like yourname@yourdomain.com (e.g., from 4GoodHosting):

  1. Go to Settings → Mail → Accounts → Add Account → Other.

  2. Tap Add Mail Account.

  3. Fill in:

    • Name: Your name (shown on sent emails)

    • Email: Full email address

    • Password: Provided by your email host

    • Description: Any name to label the account

  4. Tap Next.

 

 Configure Server Settings

You'll now enter Incoming and Outgoing Mail Server details.

✅ Incoming Mail Server (IMAP or POP)

  • Host Name: mail.yourdomain.com or from your hosting provider

  • Username: Full email address

  • Password: Email password

✅ Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)

  • Host Name: mail.yourdomain.com or as provided

  • Username: Full email address (sometimes optional)

  • Password: Required (same as above)

💡 IMAP is recommended (keeps your mail synced across devices).

  1. Tap Next – your iPhone will verify the settings.

  2. If verification fails:

    • Double-check server names and credentials.

    • Try enabling SSL or adjusting ports (common ports: IMAP 993 / SMTP 587).

  3. Once verified, tap Save.

 

 Optional: Adjust Advanced Settings

  • Go to Settings → Mail → Accounts → Select your account → Advanced

    • Use SSL: Enabled

    • Authentication: Password

    • IMAP Path Prefix: INBOX

    • Server Port:

      • IMAP: 993 (SSL)

      • SMTP: 587 (SSL/TLS)
