Your domain's Default Address (also called the "catch-all") decides what happens to email sent to any address at your domain that is not a real mailbox – for example a mistyped address like saels@yourdomain.com.
Recommended setting: Discard
For most people we recommend discarding unrouted mail. A catch-all that forwards everything to your inbox is a magnet for spam, because spammers send to random names at your domain. Discarding also prevents "backscatter" bounce messages.
- Log in to cPanel and open Email > Default Address.
- Select your domain.
- Choose Discard with error to sender, optionally enter a short failure message, and click Change.
If you prefer to catch everything
You can instead choose Forward to email address and enter a real mailbox to receive all otherwise-undeliverable mail. This is occasionally useful if customers often mistype your address, but expect a lot of spam. You can switch back to Discard at any time.
Better alternative: create real mailboxes (or aliases) for the addresses you actually use, and leave the default address set to Discard. You can check any mailbox through webmail at https://yourdomain.com/webmail.
