You can use any email program (Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird, or the mail app on your phone) with your 4GoodHosting mailbox. First create the mailbox in cPanel under Email > Email Accounts.
Easiest method: automatic setup
- Log in to cPanel and open Email > Email Accounts.
- Click Connect Devices next to your email address.
- Use one of the auto-configuration scripts for your device or app, or copy the exact Mail Client Manual Settings shown on that page.
Manual settings (recommended: secure)
- Username: your full email address; Password: the mailbox password
- Incoming (IMAP): your server hostname (for example serverN.4goodhosting.com, from your welcome email) – port 993, SSL/TLS
- Outgoing (SMTP): same hostname – port 465 (SSL) or 587 (TLS), authentication required
A non-secure alternative exists (server mail.yourdomain.com, IMAP 143 / POP3 110, SMTP 587) but we do not recommend it.
IMAP or POP?
IMAP keeps your mail synced across all devices (recommended). POP3 downloads mail to a single device. See What are IMAP and POP? for more detail.
