How do I setup my email software? Print

You can use any email program (Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird, or the mail app on your phone) with your 4GoodHosting mailbox. First create the mailbox in cPanel under Email > Email Accounts.

Easiest method: automatic setup

1. Log in to cPanel and open Email > Email Accounts.
2. Click Connect Devices next to your email address.
3. Use one of the auto-configuration scripts for your device or app, or copy the exact Mail Client Manual Settings shown on that page.

Manual settings (recommended: secure)

• Username: your full email address; Password: the mailbox password
• Incoming (IMAP): your server hostname (for example serverN.4goodhosting.com, from your welcome email) – port 993, SSL/TLS
• Outgoing (SMTP): same hostname – port 465 (SSL) or 587 (TLS), authentication required

A non-secure alternative exists (server mail.yourdomain.com, IMAP 143 / POP3 110, SMTP 587) but we do not recommend it.

IMAP or POP?

IMAP keeps your mail synced across all devices (recommended). POP3 downloads mail to a single device. See What are IMAP and POP? for more detail.
